“The First Ladies” op Curaflix

Dus Curaçao is een grote realityshow, uitgezonden via de media en sociale media. Het is ook nog interactieve media want iedereen kan reageren (Goede, 2010). Afgelopen weekeinde dringende twee aflevering zich op, die ik de serie “The First Ladies” heb gedoopt.

Het eerste was een interview van ongeveer een uur met de First Lady―wij kennen geen echte first lady, maar men doelt op de vrouw of partner van de minister president―van de eerste minister president van het Land Curaçao, dat in 2010 begon. Het is inmiddels zijn ex en ze waren, als ik het heb begrepen, niet getrouwd en hebben nu twee kinderen. Ze blikt terug op haar strafzaak, haar tijd in de gevangenis, de impact op haar kinderen en hoe ze verder gaat.

De tweede is de lovestory van huidige minster president en zijn vermeende vriendin die ook CEO zou zijn―op tot zeer kort geleden zou zijn geweest―van een van de grootste spelers in de online gambling en de vermeende belangenverstrengeling. Zo zou de laatste dienstreis naar Dubai te maken hebben met on e-gambeling (Knipselkrant, 2023).

Het lijken mij allemaal privé-aangelegenheden waar ik niet op zit te wachten. Met name de eerste aflevering is niet alleen privé maar ook zeer emotioneel en pijnlijk. Bij de tweede moeten wij helaas toch kijken omdat het algemeen belang aan de orde is. Maar ik laat het graag over aan de organen en instanties; de zogenaamde check and balance. Dus bij deze mijn verzoek om het alsjeblief ook iets te doen. Het geeft wel aan dat bestuurders veel meer aan hun hoofd hebben dan hoe dit land en arme burgers er bovenop te helpen. Ze leven letterlijk in een nader wereld.
