Maar mijn vriend, sinds de middelbare school, Anthony Guillermo, vroeg mij te reflecteren over het mensbeeld van de Yu di Kòrsou. Een mensbeeld is een doordachte en samenhangende voorstelling van wat het betekent mens te zijn. Mensbeelden zijn verbonden met (historische bepaalde) filosofische, levensbeschouwelijke of religieuze overtuigingen.

Bregman heeft iets gezegd over het mensbeeld in het algemeen. Zijn stelling is dat de meeste mensen deugen (Bregman R. , 2019). Als ik nog even verder zoek naar de Nederlandse situatie stuit ik op het volgende, over het mensbeeld van de PvdA in 2012, geschreven door een politiek filosoof: “Niet het liberale mensbeeld van de concurrerende mens, maar de erkenning dat mensen van nature schatplichtig zijn aan elkaar dient daarbij het vertrekpunt te vormen.” (Cornelissen, 2012)

Ik denk aan mijn eerder gemaakte opmerkingen over trust. Ik stelde dat wij low trust zijn. Dan kom ik tot de conclusie dat wij een negatief mensbeeld hebben; de mens is niet te vertrouwen en uit op eigenbelang of dat van de Family & Friends. Het is corruptie en je moet voor jezelf zorgen.

Als ik er verder over nadenk, is ons mensbeeld een Caribisch, Latijns Amerikaans mensbeeld geworden en dat zou kunnen komen doordat wij op dat niveau zijn geraakt.

Dat is niet altijd zo geweest en is niet over de hele linie. De Yu di Kòrsou kan ook zeer verzorgend zijn. Maar hoe komt het dat wij zo zijn verhard? Of is het slechts een kleine groep die in de criminaliteit zit?

Hoe is het mensbeeld van de jongere generaties? Ook hier zie ik verschillen. Er zijn idealisten, creatieve en sportievelingen. Het is van alle tijden, ik bedoel de jaren vijftig en zestig, de subculturen van jongeren, op zoek naar hun eigen identiteit. Feit is wel dat jongeren de problemen van vandaag zullen moeten oplossen, als het ons niet lukt. Ik doel op de klimaatcrisis, het pensioenstelsel en de groeiende ongelijkheid, om maar een paar te noemen.

Kortom, ik weet niet hoe het zit met het mensbeeld van de Yu di Kòrsou. Dit zou onderzocht moeten worden.
